Dr. Andrew P. Baraniak is a patent agent who assists in the preparation, filing, and prosecution of patent applications, specializing in the biotechnology arena. Additionally, Dr. Baraniak assists in conducting searches and reviews to assist in due diligence, patentability, and freedom to operate analyses.

Dr. Baraniak earned a bachelor's degree in biochemistry and molecular biology from The Pennsylvania State University and his Ph.D. in molecular genetics and microbiology, with a focus on post-transcriptional gene processing, from Duke University. His research has been presented at international scientific research conferences and has led to publications in prominent scientific journals, including Molecular and Cellular Biology, Journal of Biological Chemistry, Nature Biotechnology, and RNA.

Prior to joining Panitch Schwarze Belisario & Nadel LLP, Dr. Baraniak was a patent agent at DuPont, where he was responsible for managing and developing the patent portfolio for Butamax Advanced Biofuels LLC, a joint venture between DuPont and BP. Besides patent preparation and prosecution, he also was involved in freedom to operate, patent portfolio diligence, and IP strategy counseling, with the input of the legal, commercial and technical team managers.

He enjoys spending time with his family. They enjoy playing sports, going to Longwood Gardens, going to the Franklin Institute, and generally exploring everything we come into contact with.
