Panitch Schwarze Adds Technical Advisor to Team

September 6, 2019

PHILADELPHIA (September 2019) – Philadelphia IP law firm Panitch Schwarze Belisario & Nadel LLP is proud to announce that it has added a technical advisor with a background in engineering to its team of intellectual property attorneys and advisors.

Jason N. Thompson is a technical advisor and experienced mechanical engineer focusing on the preparation and prosecution of patent applications in thermodynamics, biomechanics and fluid systems. Prior to joining Panitch Schwarze, Thompson served as a primary examiner at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). His insight as to what examiners are looking for, how examiners interpret claim limitations, and how they apply art will help Panitch Schwarze to streamline its patent prosecution process, enabling the firm to offer better service and value to its clients.

At the USPTO, Thompson applied engineering principles, primarily in thermodynamics, to examine patent applications for heat exchangers and cryogenic air separation. He also coordinated with attorneys and patent agents to facilitate patent applications, provided inter-office research and classification guidance, and supported management in training junior examiners.

Thompson earned a bachelor’s degree in engineering with a focus on biomechanics from Drexel University before going on to receive a master’s degree in mechanical engineering with a focus on heat and fluid transfer from Lehigh University. To learn more, visit the firm’s website.
